Overview
MCL 380.1561(3)(f), as quoted by MDE, exempts a child ‘being educated at the child’s home by his or her parent or legal guardian in an organized educational program’ in nine listed subjects. A home school may instead operate as a nonpublic school under exemption (a), or both (MCL 380.1561(4)). Under (f), intermediate and local school districts interpret and enforce the compulsory attendance law.
